Mold Prevention for Bathrooms
10/30/2020 (Permalink)
Bathrooms are typically very humid and full of moisture, which is why it’s not uncommon to experience mold growth. If you are struggling with recurring mold growth in your bathrooms, there are a few preventative measures you can try. We all know that mold flourishes in areas with lots of moisture, so lowering the amount of water in the air can help prevent mold growth. Check out these appliances that can help lower moisture levels!
- Exhaust fans---most bathrooms have exhaust fans, but they aren’t always big enough to circulate air throughout the entire bathroom. According to earn.allergyandair.com, "These [exhaust fans] should be used whenever water is being used in large quantities to dispel the steam in the air. However, it is important to ensure the exhaust is filtered to an outside vent, not into another space like the attic where it can lead to humidity and mold developing in that area."
- Dehumidifiers---if you don’t have an exhaust fan in your bathroom, or if the fan isn’t powerful enough to prevent mold growth, adding a dehumidifier is a great option. Dehumidifiers help control the moisture in the air, which is extremely helping in stopping mold growth.
- Air Conditioner---Purchasing a portable AC unit for your bathroom is another way to combat moisture levels if you don’t have an exhaust fan. You can either place the AC unit in a window if you have one, or connect it to a vent hose that has access to a window for optimal air circulation.
We hope that these preventative options work out for you! If you have any questions or need help with mold remediation, we’ve got your back!
